Obituary
Earl VanHoose, 84, died Monday, November 24, in Paintsville Hospital. Mr. VanHoose was born Sept 17, 1897, in Johnson County, the son of Life and Tilda Ann Castle VanHoose. He was a resident of Thealka and a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. His wife, Ethel Taylor VanHoose preceded him in death March 6, 1975. Surviving are 4 sons, Lifis VanHoose of Denver, James, Virgil and Harry VanHoose of Thealka; 6 daughters, Ruby Sadler and Ella Ratliff of Denver, Georgia Lyons of Marion, OH, Christine Clark of Thealka, Mrs. Silas Jeffrey of St. Albans, WV, and Maxine Blankenship. Also, a brother, Fred VanHoose of Denver, a sister, Nellie Taylor of OH; 44 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Thursday, November 27, in Thealka Freewill Baptist Church with Don Fraley and Scott Castle officiating. Burial was in family cemetery at Denver with Jones-Preston Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
