Obituary
Former City Policeman Dies Ben Adams, 47, former city policeman, died at his home at Southside at 6:15 a.m., Wednesday, June 19, after a year’s illness. The son of the late John Elliott and Rachel Anna Gilham Adams, he was born in this county January 19, 1916. He had been a lifelong resident of the county and was a member of Paintsville Lodge 381 F & AM and a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Police force until ill health forced his retirement. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Irene Picklesimer Adams, three daughters, Shirley Ann Adams, at home, Joan Adams, Staffordsville, Betty Sue Arms, at home; five brothers, Sanford and Mart Adams, Fuget; Charlie Adams, Flatwoods, Thurman Adams, Red Bush; Fred Adams, Greenup; four sisters, Mrs. Stella Lemaster, Flat Gap, Mrs. Levena Patrick and Mrs. Versie Jenkins of this city; Mrs. Clovie Fairchild, Columbus, Ohio. Funeral services were conducted at 10:00 a.m., Saturday at the Rock House Freewill Baptist Church with Norman Roberts as officiating minister. Graveside rites were conducted by the DAV. Burial was in the Picklesimer Cemeter at Denver. PAINTSVILLE HERALD WEDNESDAY June 26, 1963
