Obituary
Gary Lee Johnson, age 59 of Staffordsville, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2015 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. Born November 9, 1955 in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Lee Edward Johnson and Vileta Cooper Johnson. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his step mother and father, Esta Salyers Johnson and Paul Williamson; and one sister, Uyvonna Cantrell. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Brenda Cheryl Johnson; one son, Nyc (and Tabitha) Johnson of Nippa, KY; two daughters, Suella Johnson (and Shannon Blankenship) of Pikeville, KY and Samantha Johnson of Staffordsville, KY; three brothers, James McKenzie of Flat Gap, KY, Jerry McKenzie of David, KY and Keith Johnson of Pikeville, KY; two sisters, Lorita Sublett of Morehead, KY and Susan Fairchild of Flat Gap, KY; and two grandchildren, Makaylee Johnson and Aireyonna Clark and a host of brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be 12 pm Tuesday, September 8, 2015 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Blair Family Cemetery. Friends may visit the Phelps & SonFuneral Home from 1pm to 9pm Monday and prior to the service on Tuesday. Lindsey Meade will officiate. Chapter 18 DAV, Auxier will conduct Military Servies. Arrangements are by the Phelps & Son Funeral Home, Paintsville.
