Obituary
Sam Bayes, 80, died Wednesday, January 16, in Paintsville Hospital after an extended illness. Born January 1, 1900, in Johnson County, he was the son of David Sherman and Delilah Ann Tackett Bayes. He was a resident of Riceville, a retired farmer and miner and a member of the United Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Edna Collins Bayes; three sons, Sherman, Oil Springs, Charles and Carl of Forest, OH; a daughter, Mrs. Thelma Lester of Denver; two brothers, Pete Bayes of Wapakoneta, OH and Floyd Bayes of Kalamazoo, Mi; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday, January 19, in Long Fork United Baptist Church, Riceville, with Elders Press Hughes and Buell Ferguson officiating. Burial was in Lester Cemetery, Denver, with Paintsville Funeral Home officiating.
