Obituary
George Rivers, Jr., 56, died Wednesday, March 10, in his Paintsville home. He was born April 15, 1919 in Johnson County. He was the son of the late George and Susan Holbrook Rivers and was a retired miner. Surviving are his wife, Zella Arms Rivers; two sons, Francis and Bill, both of Paintsville; two daughters, Deloris McCarty of Hager Hill and Mary Stapleton of Paintsville; a brother, Hershell of Leander, a half brother, Verlie of Wheelersburg, OH, three half sisters, Codia Spradlin of Denver, Virgie Hannah of Van Lear and Marie Blair of Carey, OH and 7 grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 13, in the Collista Freewill Baptist church with Reverends Richard Williams and Scott Castle officiating. Burial was in the family cemetery at Leander with Jones-Preston Funeral Home handling arrangements. Paintsville Herald, Wednesday, March 17, 1976
