Obituary
Mary Jane Spradlin, 84, died in a local hospital Saturday February 26, 11:15 p.m. following an extended illness. Born to the late John and Martha Hitchcock Selvage, September 4, 1881, she was a resident of Barnetts Creek. She is preceded in death by her husband James Winfield Spradlin who died january 7, 1966. She is survived by the following: five daughters, Mrs. Fannie Williams of Mt. Sterling, Ohio; Mrs Dessie Horn of Staffordsville; Mrs. Dorothy Adams of Salyersville; Mrs. Daisy Shield of Lexington, Ind; and Mrs. Josephine Horn of Barnetts Creek; three sons, Crate Spradlin of Springfield, Ohio; Thurman Spradlin of Orient, Ohio; and Vern Spradlin of Donaldsville, Ohio; 34 grandchildren, 64 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Also surviving are one sister, Mrs. Malta Ratliff of Denver, four brothers, Jesse Selvage of Ohio; Add Selvage of W. Van Lear and Crate Selvage of Denver. Funeral services were held yesterday, March 1, at 11:00 a.m. in the South Side Freewill baptist Church with Rev. Charles Stapleton officiating. Interment was held in the Denver-Spradlin Family Cemetery with the Jones-Preston Funeral Home in charge. The Paintsville Herald Wednesday March 2, 1966
