Obituary
Dicie VanHoose, 76, of Denver, died Thursday, Dec. 4, at her residence. Born June 9, 1932, in Johnson County, she was the daughter of the late Topsy and Leona Fairchild Ratliff. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lifes VanHoose; two sons, Ricky VanHoose and Charles VanHoose; and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include two sons, David VanHoose and Lifes VanHoose Jr., both of Denver; a brother, Jay Ratliff of Indiana; a sister, Ella Ratliff of Leander; two half- brothers, Hollie Ratliff of Red Bush and Lawrence Ratliff of Tutor Key; three half- sisters, Martha Kidd of Denver, Mary Pennington of Williamsport, and Ollie Suthern of Denver; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Sunday, Dec. 7, at Phelps and Son Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Topsy Ratliff Cemetery, Denver, under direction of Phelps and Son Funeral Home, Paintsville
