Obituary
Richard Dotson, 94, retired farmer of Leander, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Verner Blair, Leander, at 5:40 p.m., Tuesday, August 30, after an illness of several months. The son of the late Manuel and Mary Hibbits Dotson, he was born in Wise County, Va., May 6, 1866, and had lived for most of his life at Leander. He was a member of the United Baptist Church. His wife, Cynthia Conley Dotson preceded him in death in 1955. Survivors include besides Mrs. Blair three sons, Lincoln and Edd Dotson, both of New Boston, Ohio; Gleen Dotson, Nashville, Tenn.; four other daughters, Lula Hackworth, Prestonsburg; Addie Puckett, McGuffey, Ohio; Grace Williams, Newport News, Va.; Mae Hackworth, Riceville. Funeral services were conducted from the home at 2:00 p.m., Thursday with Lonza Reed, Vencil Pelphrey, Millard Bryant and Frank Caudill as officiating ministers. Burial was in the Dotson family cemetery.
