Obituary
Mahala Hannah, 73, a resident of Leander, died Wednesday, October 16, in a local hospital after an illness of several weeks. She was the wife of Proctor Hannah, and the daughter of the late Andrew J. and Leotta Snipes Shell. Mrs. Hannah was a member of the Riceville Freewill Baptist Church. Two sons, Farrell and Farrie Hannah of Leander and two daughters, Mrs. Arminta Vandale of Charleston, WV, and Mrs. Irene Reynolds of Tampa, FL, also survive, as do 19 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Additional survivors include three brothers, Johnnie Shell of West Prestonsburg, Thurman Shell of West Van Lear, and Sam Shell of Springfield, OH, and a sister, Mrs. Eunice Fairchilds of Christiansburg, OH. Services were held Saturday, October 19 at the Riceville Freewill Baptist Church with Charlie Lemaster, Mose Kitchen and Richard Williams officiating. Burial followed in the Hannah family cemetery at Leander. The Jones-Preston Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
