Obituary
Proctor McCarty died suddenly at his Swamp Branch home on June 12. He was 69. Woodrow White and Adam White officiated at the June 15 funeral services in the Liberty Baptist Church at Denver. The Jones-Preston Funeral Home then cared for burial in the family cemetery at Denver. McCarty, born in Johnson County to the late Willy and Francis Calhoun McCarty, was preceded in death by his wife, Alma McCarty, in 1968. Survivors include four sons from Wabash, Ind., John, Robert, Elijah, and Richard McCarty; two daughters, Roberta Ratliff of Swamp Branch and Joy Christine Rice from Dayton, Ohio; a brother and a sister, Burns McCarty of Lowmansville and Mona McFaddin from Paintsville; 22 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
