George G. Marple, March 4, 1829-December 5, 1896

In 1850, George G. Marple made a trip with ox teams to California to dig for gold. He was there for 2 1/2 years and was successful in this endeavor. With this gold exchanged for money, he was able to buy a farm on Pope's Creek.
