Obituary
Millard O’Bryan, 92, died Friday, January 21, in the Paintsville Hospital after an illness of several weeks. Mr. O’Bryan was born June 26, 1884, at Staffordsville, the son of James H. and Lourinda Blair O’Bryan. He was a resident of Leander, a retired farmer and had been a member of the United Baptist Church for 77 years. His first wife, Tony Watkins O’Bryan preceded him in death. Surviving are his wife, Virgie May O’Bryan; three sons, Ervin O’Bryan of Leander, Thurman O’Bryan of New Carlisle, OH, and Marcus O’Bryan of Grove City, OH; five daughters, Hattie Blanton of Lucasville, OH, Myrle Preston and Goldie Blair, both of Huntington, WV, Daisy Blair of Williamsport, OH, and Dixie Osborne of Columbus, OH; 36 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday, January 22, in the Jenny’s Creek United Baptist church at Leander with James H. Blair, C. J. Sparks, Paul Turner, and John R. Pelphrey officiating. Burial was in the O’Bryan Cemetery at Leander with Paintsville Funeral Home handling arrangements. Paintsville Herald, Wednesday, January 26, 1977
