Obituary
Mary M. Rice, 87, passed away January 16, 1971 in a Paintsville hospital after being ill for several months. Born in Floyd County to the late Jefferson and Electa Stone Spears, she was a resident of Van Lear at the time of her death. Her husbnad, John Rice, died in 1959. Surviving are her two sons, James Rice of Dayton, Ohio, and Harmon Rice of Lansing, Mich.; two daughters, Mrs. Beulah Rice in Dayton, Ohio, and Mrs. Mildred D. Blanton of Washington Courthouse, Ohio, and 15 grandchildren. Services took place January 18, 1971 in the chapel of the Paintsville Funeral Home, under the directon of the Reverends Bruce Daniel and Melvin Blanton. The Paintsville Funeral Home suipervised burial in the family cemetery at Leander, with Bobby Gene Rice, Robert Coleman, Bill Stambaugh, and W. H. Conley assisting as pallbearers.
