Obituary
David J. “Jessie” Hitchcock, 89, died Tuesday, March 29, in the Paintsville Hospital after an extended illness. Born January 13, 1888, in Johnson County, Mr. Hitchcock was the son of General and Mary Ann Frazier Hitchcock. He was a resident of Staffordsville and a retired miner. His wife, Elsie Colvin Hitchcock, preceded him in death. Surviving are three sons, Cecil Hitchcock of Staffordsville, David Hitchcock of Chicago, IL, and Lawrence Hitchcock of Columbus, OH, three daughters, Myrtle May of Warsaw, IN, Pauline Castle of Thealka, and Lova Green of Pierceton, IN; two brothers, Eddie Hitchcock of Collista and Benny Hitchcock of Denver, three sisters, Dicie Baldwin and Alta Baldwin, both of Denver and Bessie Blair of Leander; 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday, April 1, in the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel with Reverends Scott Castle, Charles Lemaster and Bruce Spencer officiating. Burial was in the family cemetery at Denver with Jones-Preston Funeral Home handling arrangements
