Obituary
Raymond Brown, 68, died Saturday, June 30, at his Leander home after an extended illness. He was born November 1, 1912, in Johnson County, son of the late Westley and Cora Blanton Brown. He was a retired coal miner and a member of the United Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Elaine Fairchild Brown; two sons, Doris brown, Midway, OH, and Darrell Brown, New Carlisle, OH; two daughters, Betty Scott, Troy, OH and Cora Moore, New Carlisle, OH; three brothers, Hershel Brown, Leander, Gail Brown and Westley Brown, Jr. both of Swamp Branch; four daughters, Alka Whitaker, Cave City, Alta Gilkerson, Chicago, IL, June Arms, Baltimore, MD, and Kathleen Bone, Chesapeake, OH; and 11 grandchildren. Funeral services held Tuesday, July 3, at Beechwall United Baptist Church, Leander with Elders Jimmy Cloud, Kenny Pelphrey, Willie Bowlin and James H. Blair officiating. Burial was in Brown Cemetery, Leander, with Paintsville Funeral Home handling arrangements. Paintsville Herald, Wednesday, July 4, 1979
