Obituary
Hershel Brown, 72, died September 7, in Paintsville Hospital after an extended illness. Born November 5, 1910, in Johnson County, he was the son of Wesley and Cora Blanton Brown. He was a retired miner and carpenter, a resident of Leander and a member of the First Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Marie Goble Brown; a daughter, Kay Mead, Boons Camp; two brothers, Gayle Brown and Wesley Brown, Jr both of Riceville; four sisters, Alka Whitaker, Cave City, KY, Alta Gilkison, June Arms, and Kathline Bone, Proctorville, OH; and one granddaughter. Funeral services held September 10, in First Baptist Church with Dr. Charles Milam officiating. Burial was in Brown Cemetery at Leander, under direction of Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel.
