Mrs. Samantha Fairchild, 82, died at 1:00 a.m., June 24, in a local hospital, following an extended illness. Born March 19, 1883, she was the daughter of the late Richard E. and Louvina Preston Johnson and had been a resident of Denver most of her life. She was affiliated with the Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Enoch Fairchild, in 1941. Survivors are six sons, Elzie, Elmer and Frank Fairchild, Denver; Kenneth Fairchild, Milford Center, Ohio; Clate Fairchild, Paintsville; two daughters, Mrs. Mint Hannah, Staffordsville, and Mrs. Dora Goble, Denver; one sister, Mrs. Manda Bayes, Waverly, Ohio; 27 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., June 26, in the Liberty Baptist Church at Denver, with the Revs. John G. Sammons and Scott Castle officiating. Burial was in the Topsy Ratliff Cemetery at Denver, under the direction of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home.
