Obituary
Funeral services were held Sunday, September 14 in Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Ellis Ratliff, 78. Mr. Ratliff died September 11, in Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center. He was born December 29, 1907 in Johnson County the son of Eli and Elizabeth Ward Ratliff. He was a resident of Denver, a retired coal miner and a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Edna Blair Ratliff; 6 sons, Kenneth, Elmon and Henry Ratliff all of Denver, Ellis Ratliff of Wabash, In, Eulas Ratliff of Vanlue, OH and Ray Ratliff of Staffordsville; 2 daughters, Allene Soard of Osceola, In and Geneva Ratliff of Denver; 2 brothers, Eli Ratliff, Jr. and William H. Ratliff both of Barnetts Creek; 16 grandchildren 16 great grandchildren. Herb Arms, Richard Williams, John Frank Ratliff, and Lowell Pelphrey officiated at services with burial in Ratliff Family cemetery at Denver. Paintsville Herald, Wednesday, September 24, 1986
