Obituary
Former Johnson County resident, Frank A. Ratliff, 68, died Monday, March 26, in Urbana, Ohio. Mr. Ratliff was born May 3, 1921 in Johnson County, the son of Topsy and Leona Fairchild Ratliff. He was a coal miner. Surviving are his wife, Julia Salyer Ratliff; two sons, Don, in the U.S. Navy, and S.E., of Cable, Ohio; three daughters, Emma Hoy, of Flat Gap, Deana Knowles, of Urbana, and Robin Blizzard, of Daytona Beach, Florida; eight brothers, J .C. of Topeka, Indiana, Bud, of Urbana, Topsy and Clark, both of Denver, Earl, of Hager Hill, Hollie, of Flat Gap, Andy, of Blaine, and Lawrence, of Tutor Key; and eight sisters, Hattie Thacker and Dixie Blair, both of Urbana, Dicie Blair, Ella Ratliff, Martha Castle and Ruth Ann Sadler, all of Denver, Ollie Southern, of Meally, and Mary Pennington, of Van Lear. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 29, in Jones Preston Funeral Home Chapel, with Melvin Blanton and Freddie Salyer officiating. Burial will be in the family cemetery at Denver.
