Obituary
Charlie Ratliff, 58, of Hager Hill, died Monday, Feb. 18, at Ashland Community Hospice Care Center. Born Feb. 25, 1954, in Johnson County, he was the son of the late Leander and Ella Mae VanHoose Ratliff. He was a coal miner. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mae Horne. Survivors include his wife, Tenia Sue Blair Ratliff; two sons, Jeremy C. Ratcliff of Prestonsburg and Charlie Jay Ratliff of Hager Hill; three daughters, Myra Sue Ratcliff of Tutor Key, Suzanna Lynn Akers of Wittensville and Sarah Lee Ratliff of Hager Hill; two brothers, Edward Lee Ratliff and Billy Ratliff, both of Hager Hill; five sisters, Brenda Spears of Sitka, Linda Fay Blair, Glenia Pennington and Wanda Blair, all of Hager Hill, and Leonia Hannah of Swamp Branch; and five grandchildren. Funeral services were Friday, Feb. 22, at New Bethel Freewill Baptist Church, Riceville, with Hubert Slone, Joe Scott, and Donald Ray Caudill officiating. Burial was in Topsy Ratliff Cemetery, Denver, under direction of Jones-Preston Funeral Home, Paintsville.
