Obituary
James Dennie Spradlin, 75, of Hager Hill, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, at his residence. Born Aug. 9, 1934, in Johnson County, he was the son of the late Kay and Alma Baldwin Spradlin. He was a coal miner. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Blair Spradlin, in 2005; a daughter, Jeneva Blair; and two grandchildren. Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Edward Spradlin of Hager Hill and Tracy Lynn Spradlin of Staffordsville; a brother, Kerra Frances Spradlin of Denver; four sisters, Rosie Ellen Hackworth of Vanlu, Ohio, Opal Hermalee Traxler of Marion, Ohio, Mae Venus Salyer of Bellefontaine, Ohio, and Lura Janice Tipton of South Bloomfield, Ohio; five grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren. Funeral services were Sunday, Jan. 17, at Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel, with Rutherford Blair, A.J. Williamson, and Johnny Curtis officiating. Burial was in Blair Family Cemetery, Leander, under direction of Jones-Preston Funeral Home, Paintsville.
