Obituary
Sam Blair Passes Away At Denver, KY. Death ends long and useful life of one of the county's bestknown citizens. Samuel Blair, known to a large number of friends in Johnson County as "Uncle Sam," died at the home of his son, Harlan Blair, at Denver, Ky., in the Jennies Creek Section, Wednesday, November 14
at 5:00 p. m. He had been in serious condition for sometimes caused by cancerous infection of his right great toe. He was 83 years, 10 months, and 14 days old at his death. He was surrounded by a large number of relatives and friends when the end came.He is survived by one brother, James F. Blair, of Denver, Ky., two sisters, Mrs. Lou Rinda O'Brien, of Asa, Ky., and Mrs. Amanda Arms, of Denver, Ky.; three sons, Albert Blair, Alamander Blair and Harlan Blair, all of Denver Ky., three daughters, Mrs.
Elizabeth Blair, of Denver, Mrs. Catherine Blair of Collista, Ky.,and Mrs. Lula Salyer, Barnetts Creek, Ky. Also 45 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren."Uncle Sam" was one of the old pioneer stock of Eastern Kentucky and has probably done more hard work than any other man who ever lived and died in this section, having been a life-long farmer,
clearing new land, making rails, fencing and working with threshing machine, and working in the log woods of Kentucky and West Virginia. When wheat was raised more extensively in this section he operated a thresher and visited all sections of Johnson
and Magoffin counties, where he became well known and loved by a vast number of people. He was an interesting conversation a list and could always hold the interest of his listeners.
