Obituary
Seventy-eight-year-old Vernie Blair died on Thursday, April 30, in a local hospital after an extended illness. The Denver farmer was born in Johnson County to the late James and Katherine Blair. Cline Salyers conducted funeral services at Denver’s Liberty Baptist Church and the Jones-Preston Funeral Home arranged for the burial in the Arms Cemetery at Denver on May 3. Survivors include his wife, Ora Lee Blair, four sons from Denver, Jemas, Willis, Wayne and Robert Blair; one step son, Lora Pelphrey of Quincy, Ohio; two daughters, Anna Mary Meade of Whitehouse and Wilma Carol Blair from Denver; two half sisters from Paintsville, Cloie Lemaster and Mollie Trimble, and a brother Albert Blair, also of Paintsville.
